—

Patricia Casten is a Melbourne-based art director and photographer.

She began her practice documenting the people closest to her through portraits, street photography and small editorial stories. What started as informal portraits evolved into a record of what it meant to come of age through the lens of diaspora, finding stories in places that often go unseen.

What began as personal documentation soon opened doors, taking her behind the lens for various artists and musicians, into publications with Acclaim, i-D, Vice, Wonderland, and Fashion Journal, and onto the big screen in Universal Pictures’ The Photograph (2020). She has since been profiled in Liminal and Notion, and exhibited at the Centre for Contemporary Photography (2015, 2021), Studio Brunswick (2018), and No Vacancy (2019).

Patricia’s work is intimate and observant, guided by a desire to find the heart of the human story, to tell it with honesty, and then surrender it to the audience to make their own.

She brings that same instinct to her commercial work, where she has worked with Apple, Netflix, Nike, Instagram, Hinge, Durex and YouTube, and has delivered immersive brand experiences across Melbourne, London, Los Angeles, New York and Stockhom.

Patricia is currently a Senior Creative at Snack Drawer, and remains open to conversations about creative ideas and collaborations.
